Digital talent to help SMEs and halt brain drain
The drive to attract the best talent to North East England’s digital sector has received a boost, with the green light for a £2.66m project to create and safeguard 80 jobs and assist 120 businesses region wide. Sunderland based Codeworks, the region’s centre for digital innovation, has secured new funding to continue with a highly successful programme that brings together small and medium sized companies with the latest digital knowledge and creativity from local universities. The ‘Digital placement and knowledge transfer’ project will support 120 more SMEs, thanks in part to a £733,000 investment from the European Regional Development Fund 2007-13 and a renewed effort to utilise the cream of graduate expertise in the region.
