Continuing our reporting on the recession for rural England
CRC have submitted the second of our regular reports to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the rural impacts of the recession. Our briefing helps inform his contribution to the National Economic Council, which meets weekly to consider impacts of the recession and recovery measures. Our second report highlights the deepening economic downturn in rural areas but also includes examples ‘bucking the trend’ - new jobs, new contracts, new businesses and new workplaces, together with new support measures announced by a variety of national, regional and local agencies, organisations and communities.
