Take-up of ‘Pray and Display’ Community Parking permits hailed a success
As the six month trail period for special community permits, dubbed ‘Pray and Display’, draws to an end figures released by Barnet Council show that to date, 44 permits have been issued since the launch on 30th June 2008. The permits, costing the same as a standard residents parking permit allow the holder to park in residential parking bays across the borough and were introduced as part of the Council’s core priority to ‘Support the Vulnerable’, enabling religious and community leaders to access vulnerable residents in their own homes in times of spiritual need. A rigorous set of criteria was drawn up by the Council in conjunction with the Barnet Multi-Faith Forum to govern the scheme to ensure compliance with the Equality Act 2006.
