  • Highway Authorities will share £9m of extra funding to help them better manage their roads, bridges and other assets improving the service they offer to the public, Transport Minister Paul Clark announced today. This funding is in addition to the £23m announced earlier this year. The new money will help councils to gather important information on their streetlights, bridges, roads and other assets, in order to manage them as effectively as possible. Paul Clark said: “High quality local highways are vital to communities; connecting people with work, shops, services, families and friends. Highways asset management is not just about engineering, or finding the right technical solution for the right price. It’s about ensuring that the public get what they want from their local highway network - the single largest asset that a local authority owns.”
