Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie MLA, today announced a further year’s funding of £50,000 for the ‘Laganside Community Activity’ scheme. This funding programme is aimed at supporting and encouraging community based events that both address the needs of the local Laganside communities and continue to bring life to the area. The Community Activity Grant helps to sustain the regeneration of the Laganside area and enables local communities to access a variety of leisure, cultural and educational activity opportunities. Margaret Ritchie commented: “I recognise the value of arts, sports, cultural, environmental and educational community based activities and my Department will continue to promote these initiatives to ensure that the Laganside area continues to be a success. This additional year’s funding will ensure that there is ongoing financial support for community activities that address the needs of and provides benefit to the Laganside local community and contribute to the ongoing regeneration of the Laganside.”
