  • A new campaign has been launched targeting those operating within the third sector, it has been revealed. The initiative by the Institute of Fundraising aims to ensure that fundraising is recognised as a part of overall volunteering initiatives and as such the organisation is calling on charities and community bodies to give their opinions on volunteer fundraising. Megan Pacey, director of policy and campaigns for the institute, said: “Volunteering remains a top priority across government. “Engaging the public in volunteering to increase outputs across a range of sectors and improve civil society is key to many public policy agendas.” She added that although fundraisers generate millions of pounds every year and two-thirds of all volunteers handle and raise cash “there is still a distinct lack of recognition across the board”. Such news might be of interest to those third sector organisations looking to maintain sustainable efficiencies. It was recently revealed that the Charities Information Bureau launched a new website in June which will provide people working for charities across the south-west of England with a database containing more than 1,500 fundraising opportunities.
