  • Young people across Wales, many of them from deprived areas, are being inspired to become more creative and community-spirited by an innovative awards scheme. Grants worth more than £300,000 have recently been made to voluntary organisations by the Russell Commission Youth Volunteering Grants programme to encourage more young people to take up volunteering. The Welsh Assembly Government-funded initiative, which is managed and administered by Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA), is helping finance a total of 28 projects that will support the direct delivery of new volunteering opportunities for 16-25 year olds, particularly those from disadvantaged communities.
